Giorgos Manios
Giorgos Manios is a PhD candidate in History at Panteion University. His doctoral research, titled “Debates on ‘National Character’ in Interwar Greece and Romania,” examines the intellectual constructions of national identity in Southeast Europe. His broader research interests include Balkan intellectual history, nationalism, and historiography.
He has published on the Greek Revolution of 1821, Romanian historiography, interwar Romanian feminism, and the reception of the Turkish Republic in the Romanian press. His MA research was published as “Friends or Foes? Romanian Perceptions of 1821” in 1821 in Balkan Historiography (ed. A. Lyberatos, Melissa, 2021). He has presented his work at international conferences and participated in funded research projects in Balkan intellectual and social history.
